Valerie Maher is the Lead Economic Development Specialist for the U.S. Small Business Administration in Houston. Ms. Maher collaborates with an extensive network of public and private sector partners across 32 counties and represents the SBA at a variety of public functions to educate the small business community and economic development stakeholders about SBA programs and services and other small business topics. Prior to joining the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Houston District Office in January 2017, Ms. Maher spent the previous 10 years working for the SBA’s National Guaranty Purchase Center in Herndon, VA as a Supervisory Loan Specialist. Ms. Maher was responsible for reviewing the origination, closing, servicing, and liquidation of 7a loans in order to process lender guaranty claims on defaulted small business loans. Previous experience includes working for residential and commercial lending institutions. Ms. Maher is a graduate of Texas A&M University.

Soledad es una ejecutiva financiera global con 27 años de experiencia en finanzas y control, estrategia y consultoría, desempeño y métricas en la industria de logística y banca. Desarrolló su extensa carrera en finanzas globales mientras trabajaba para Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL), sede mundial en Bonn, Alemania, y en todo Estados Unidos. Ha vivido y trabajado en Ecuador, Estados Unidos, Reino Unido, India, Alemania y Suiza.

Ella es ecuatoriana americana con raíces suizas. Se mudó a Houston en 1996 desde Ecuador y continuó sus estudios en la Universidad de St. Thomas (UST), donde recibió una Maestría en Negocios Internacionales en 2002 y un Certificado de Liderazgo Organizacional de la Universidad de Rice en 2007.
