Fiesta Gardens came to life as over 400 clients, supporters, and friends of PeopleFund joined together to celebrate the accomplishments of three very special small businesses and two outstanding community supporters.

Music by Solo Vato greeted guests while colorful banners of clients and their work highlighted their success. Several PeopleFund clients played active roles in the evening’s success. Juan in a Million cooked up a delicious Mexican buffet while Day and Night Waters offered their refreshing oxygenated water known as Cielo. After party clean-up and recycling services were provided by Ecology Action.

The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony. Community Lender Barbra Boeta provided heart-felt insight about PeopleFund’s work with clients. Winners, Ballard’s Landscaping Company (Beating the Odds Award), Coronado Studio’s (Community Impact Award) and Primavera Montessori (Outstanding Entrepreneur) each spoke with grace and sincerity about the challenges of entrepreneurship and the benefits of working with PeopleFund.

Executive Director Margo Weisz thanked outstanding Community Leader, Will Meredith, whose work at Chestnut Plaza will include a community plaza that will be home PeopleFund’s new Center for Economic Opportunity. Board Member, Eugene Sepulveda applauded Community Super Star, Mayor Pro Tem Betty Dunkerley who has long been a wise and dependable voice for inclusion, opportunity, and equity for all in Austin.

PeopleFund heartily thanks all who support our efforts including our fabulous Board of Directors; the PeopleFund East Night Committee—Sache Cantu, Kelty Christman, Dianna Lewis, Jessica Nieri, Lise Ragbir and Kala Philo; and this years’ East Night Sponsors!
